SYNOPSIS:

This course is a culmination of art practice and critical thinking, underpinned by history and theory developed in the prerequisite Studio Project and Visual Research courses. Assessment will be in the form of a presentation accompanied by documentation, demonstrating the articulation and conceptual development of the student's specialization.





OBJECTIVES:

On successful completion of this course students will have:

  1. achieved high levels of creative practice by undertaking self- directed, project oriented studies in visual arts practice;
  2. achieved appropriate and selective practical skills and levels of accomplishment, through the synthesis of theory and practice;
  3. developed presentation and documentation skills which demonstrate the culmination of conceptual and articulation skills of their art practice.

Description Weighting (%)
1. The presentation and documentation is the culmination of all previous Practice and Project courses and requires the presentation of a completed body of work accompanied by documentation. Advice such as the number of works, content, space and assessment for the presentation will be discussed with the studio discipline heads. The documentation format must be specified in writing with lecturers. Requirements would include articulation of concepts, influences, art making and final works Assessment of this course will involve an external advisor who is a professional practising artist/visual arts academic/noted arts worker.

The presentation and documentation of a body of work to be supervised by lecturer(s). To be assured of a passing grade students must in person present a documented body of work and be available to discuss that work with the panel of assessors.


IMPORTANT ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

  1. Attendance requirements:
    It is the students' responsibility to attend and participate appropriately in all activities (such as workshops and consultation with supervisors) scheduled for them, and to study all material provided to them or required to be accessed by them to maximise their chance of meeting the objectives of the course and to be informed of course-related activities and administration.
  2. Requirements for students to complete each assessment item satisfactorily:
    Students will be required to pass all assessment requirements.
  3. Penalties for late submission of required work:
    Students who fail to submit their work for final assessment at the appointed time without prior approval or documented medical circumstances will fail the course. NB: Assessment times cannot be very flexible due to the need to appoint an external assessor.
  4. Requirements for student to be awarded a passing grade in the course:
    To be assured of a passing grade students must in person present a documented body of work as directed by lecturer(s) and be available to discuss that work with the panel of assessors. Studio drawings, journals, lectures and discussion tutorials are an essential requirement of this course.
  5. Method used to combine assessment results to attain final grade:
    The final grade as per the Faculty's grading system will be agreed upon by the panel of assessors at a moderation meeting. No IM result will be awarded as this is the final assessment.
  6. Examination information:
