It is the students' responsibility to attend and participate appropriately in all activities (such as lectures, tutorials, laboratories and practical work) scheduled for them, and to study all material provided to them or required to be accessed by them to maximise their chance of meeting the objectives of the course and to be informed of course-related activities and administration. Students must complete 80 hours of clinical experience as partial fulfillment of Queensland Nursing Council requirements for registration. To ensure that students can satisfy the clinical components of the course, they must attend, and actively participate in all laboratory sessions in this course prior to undertaking Clinical Experience. - Requirements for students to complete each assessment item satisfactorily:
To complete each of the assessment items satisfactorily, students must obtain a (1) for successful completion of the "Clinical Performance Evaluation Tool", a (1) for the Psychomotor Skills (Tollesfon), and at least 50% of the marks allocated for the exam. (Depending upon the requirements in Statement 4 below, students may not have to satisfactorily complete each assessment item to receive a passing grade in this course.) - Penalties for late submission of required work:
All assessment must be handed in but no penalty will apply for late submission. - Requirements for student to be awarded a passing grade in the course:
To be assured of a passing grade, students must demonstrate that they have achieved the required minimum standards in relation to the objectives of the course by satisfactorily completing summative assessment items (the examination) and achieve a "satisfactory" grade of (1) on the Clinical Performance Evaluation Tool and the Psychomotor Skills and Clinical Practice Investigation. - Method used to combine assessment results to attain final grade:
The final grade for students will be assigned on the basis of the weighted aggregate of the marks obtained for the summative assessment item in the course and successful completion of the non-weighted items. - Examination information:
Restricted Examination - the only materials that candidates may use in the restricted examination for this course are: writing materials (non-electronic and free from material which could give the student an unfair advantage in the examination). Students whose first language is not English, may take an appropriate unmarked non-electronic translation dictionary (but not a technical dictionary) into the examination. (Dictionaries with any hand written notes will not be permitted). Translation dictionaries will be subject to perusal and may be removed from the candidate's possession until appropriate disciplinary action is completed, if found to contain material that could give the candidate an unfair advantage. - Examination period when Deferred/Supplementary examinations will be held:
Any Deferred or Suplementary examiniations or clinical experience will be held during the semester three examination period. - University Regulations:
Students should read USQ Regulations 5.1 Definitions, 5.6. Assessment, and 5.10 Academic Misconduct for further information and to avoid actions which might contravene University Regulations. These regulations can be found at the URL http://www.usq.edu.au/corporateservices/calendar/part5.htm or in the current USQ Handbook.
