SYNOPSIS

This is a holding course that follows the completion of all required courses in the Masters Dissertation and before the student submits his/her dissertation. Students should maintain frequent contact with their supervisor. The dissertation will be a significant piece of independently conducted and written research. To successfully complete the dissertation, students will be required to select a research topic, develop a proposal, carry out supervised research on the chosen topic using an appropriate research method, and present and defend the results.

IMPORTANT ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

1. Attendance requirements:
   It is the students' responsibility to attend and participate appropriately in all activities (such as lectures, tutorials, laboratories and practical work) scheduled for them, and to study all material provided to them or required to be accessed by them to maximise their chance of meeting the objectives of the course and to be informed of course-related activities and administration.
2. Requirements for students to complete each assessment item satisfactorily:

4. Requirements for student to be awarded a passing grade in the course:
   To obtain a final grade for the dissertation, students must obtain a Satisfactory Progress (SP) for all four courses: BUS8201, BUS8202, BUS8203 and BUS8204, and the dissertation must be certified by two external Examiners as satisfactory for the Masters degree to be awarded. If students have not completed their dissertation by the end of the current semester, they must re-enrol in BUS8001 (zero-point, no-fee course) each semester until the dissertation is completed.
5. Method used to combine assessment results to attain final grade:
   The final grade for students will be allocated to the course BUS8204. Depending on progress, a grade of either Satisfactory Progress (SP) or Result Not Available (RN) will be awarded in this course.
6. Examination information:
   There is no examination in this course.
7. Examination period when Deferred/Supplementary examinations will be held:
   Not applicable.
