Students will learn in student-centred, interactive and supportive and safe simulated clinical laboratory sessions and in clinical settings. Students will be facilitated to draw on previous knowledge and integrate and apply new knowledge.
OBJECTIVES
On completion of this course students will be able to:
- Demonstrate at beginning level, body system assessments within a simulated setting. (Laboratory Attendances A & B; Laboratory Assessments; End of Semester Exam).
- Identify the appropriate beginning level theory, the principles for nursing practice and the evidence for practice, which supports the implementation of psychomotor skills. (Laboratory Attendance A & B; Laboratory Assessments; Clinical Psychomotor Skills; Clinical Practicum; End of Semester Exam).
- Transfer interpersonal and psychomotor skills learned in simulated clinical laboratory sessions to provide appropriate and effective safe client care, as determined by Tollefson criteria for Laboratory Assessments and the ANMC Competencies on the Clinical Practicum Evaluation Tool (Laboratory Attendance A & B; Laboratory Assessments; Clinical Practicum; Clinical Psychomotor Skills; Clinical Reflections and Activities; End of Semester Exam).
