This course continues the professional preparation program.

SYNOPSIS

With respect to psychological research skills this course continues the independent piece of research conducted in Semester 1. In this semester it is expected that data will be analysed, and a results and discussion written and the work done in S1 be integrated such that the output resembles an Honours thesis. Students will again participate in their work integrated learning placement. An emphasis will be placed upon counselling skills, which will be taught and evaluated under supervision within the University setting.

OBJECTIVES

On successful completion of this course students will be able to demonstrate the ability to:

1. Conduct an independent piece of research (Competency Test);
2. administer, score, and analyse a range of psychological tests (Competency Test);
3. use other professional skills that are appropriate to the placement setting (Competency Test).

1. Attendance requirements:
   It is the students' responsibility to attend and participate appropriately in all activities (such as lectures, tutorials, laboratories and practical work) scheduled for them, and to study all material provided to them or required to be accessed by them to maximise their chance of meeting the objectives of the course and to be informed of course-related activities and administration.
2. Requirements for students to complete each assessment item satisfactorily:
   To complete the competency test satisfactorily, students must obtain the 1 mark available for the test.
3. Penalties for late submission of required work:
   Not applicable
4. Requirements for student to be awarded a passing grade in the course:
   To be assured of a passing grade, students must demonstrate that they have achieved the required minimum standards in relation to the objectives of the course by satisfactorily completing the Competency Test.
5. Method used to combine assessment results to attain final grade:
   As P is the only passing grade available for this course, all students who are qualified for a passing grade as in Important Assessment Information 4 will be given a grade of P. Other students will be given either a Failing grade or an Incomplete grade.
6. Examination information:
   There are no examinations in this course.
7. Examination period when Deferred/Supplementary examinations will be held:
   Since there is no examination in this course, there are no supplementary or deferred exams.
