SYNOPSIS

This course is a continuation of MGT9604 and a complement of MGT9606 that follows. In these courses the candidate should be at work on the basic substance of the dissertation itself. The fifth course in the eight-unit dissertation will normally focus on preliminary data gathering and analysis. Supervisors, course leader and candidate will consult on an ongoing basis during this period. Students will have submitted evidence of data analysis to the satisfaction of the supervisor, which will carry 100% of the course marks by Week 12 in the current semester of enrolment.

IMPORTANT ASSESSMENT INFORMATION

  1. Attendance requirements:
    There are no attendance requirements for this course. However, it is the students' responsibility to study all material provided to them or required to be accessed by them to maximise their chance of meeting the objectives of the course and to be informed of course-related activities and administration.

  4. Requirements for student to be awarded a passing grade in the course:
    The completed assignment or chapter must be approved by two supervisors as satisfactory for awarding a passing grade for the course.
  5. Method used to combine assessment results to attain final grade:
    A progress report will be required from the principal supervisor and student. Upon receipt of the progress report by the examiner, a result of satisfactory progress (SP) will be awarded to allow the student to progress to the next course in this program. Other students will be given either a fail grade or an incomplete grade.
  6. Examination information:
    There is no examination in this course.
  7. Examination period when Deferred/Supplementary examinations will be held:
    Not applicable.

ASSESSMENT NOTES

1. (i) The due date for an assessment is the date by which a student must despatch the assessment to the USQ. The onus is on the student to provide proof of the despatch date, if requested by the examiner. (ii) Students must retain a copy of each assignment submitted for assessment. This must be produced within 24 hours if required by the examiner. (iii) In accordance with university policy, the examiner may grant an extension of the due date of an assignment in extenuating circumstances. (iv) The examiner will normally only accept assessments that have been written, typed or printed on paper-based media. (v) The examiner will not accept submission of assessments by facsimile.
2. When the examiner and moderator are satisfied that the student has completed all requirements for this course, a grade of SP will be awarded to allow the student to progress to the next course in this program. A result of SP will indicate that the student has met the requirements of the course at a standard that, with editing and correcting, would be suitable for submission to external examiners.
