This course and the course CSC8402 form the middle part of the research component of the MITSc programme. From the foundation established in CSC8400, students will make progress towards completing a selected project in applied mathematics, statistics or computer science with the supervision of appropriate staff from the Department of Mathematics and Computing. The project will consist of a review and research into a well defined area of mathematics, statistics or computer science and their application. In this course, information and ideas will be gathered, created, organised, analysed and discussed in a critical and evaluative manner. The topic of the project will be selected in consultation with the staff of the Department.
