Synopsis

This clinical course uses a primary health care framework to enable students to develop clinical competence in family health care at an advanced level. Content in this course focuses on family health issues, specifically on assessment and health management of children and adolescents within the context of family in a rural and/or remote setting. Students will be required to complete two (2) weeks clinical practicum for the purpose of demonstrating advanced standards of competency in assessment and family health care. Clinical placement will be normally organised as one placement of two (2) weeks duration during the academic year. Competence will be assessed using the Australian Nursing & Midwifery Council's Competency Standards for the Advanced Nurse, and the Remote Area Nurse Competencies. Students will require access to e-mail and the internet for this course.
