Synopsis
Supply Chain Networks are the essential "glue" that bind supply chains and ensure efficient and effective flow of materials and information. Typically, members will include suppliers, manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers, and most importantly, customers. Large amounts of capital can be tied up in factories, warehouses, distribution centres, retail outlets, wholesalers, distributors, and retailers. Network configuration deals with many issues including physical movement, organisational behaviour, information technology and operations research. This course will take a strategic approach to network design and introduce some of the leading edge techniques that will facilitate practical network development.
