Synopsis
This course seeks to develop a more detailed understanding of how certain physical activities are applied to primary school settings. It extends the practical activity work undertaken in the previous courses, and seeks to build knowledge of the practical application of certain physical activities through which the core learning outcomes expressed in the Queensland 1-10 health and physical education syllabus may be demonstrated. As part of the physical education specialisation students will be encouraged to challenge the traditional anglo-saxon model commonly associated with school physical activity at the 1-10 level and to develop knowledge of alternative applications of suitable for use within games, aquatics and school carnival activities. Such practices will be based on the principles of social justice through which core learning outcomes from the Queensland 1-10 health and physical education syllabus may be demonstrated.
