Synopsis
This course deals with the fundamental issues of research and professional skills. With respect to psychological research skills this course centres on the construction and conduct of simple experimental tasks. Students need to be able to create an experiment, test participants, record, score and analyse obtained data. With respect to professional skills development, this course starts the discussion upon diagnosis of psychological problems and corresponding treatment issues, particularly with respect to psychopharmacological and behavioural treatments. Work Integrated Learning continues with site visits which allows students the opportunities to examine the contexts in which psychologists work.
