Synopsis

The course will cover the basic concepts and principles of geographic information systems (GIS). Topics to be covered include general introduction to GIS, referencing systems, GIS data structures and formats, data acquisition and input, database management system and query, data analysis, mapping with GIS, selection of GIS, application of GIS and future of GIS.
