Synopsis
This course deals with fundamental issues of professional self-management and interpersonal skills within a community based placement. With respect to professional skills development, the course includes attendance at a Work Integrated Learning placement, and is designed to introduce students to the skills required to function effectively in the workplace. With respect to personal skills development, it is envisaged that students will develop their interpersonal skills, social networking skills, and understanding of organisational processes via active community engagement. Projects and other opportunities at each Work Integrated Learning placement are expected to further develop the research and critical thinking skills learned by students in other courses.
