Synopsis

The course is subdivided into practice modules covering aspects of Geology and Surveying. Practice requirements for each module include field work in a team environment, field excursions and the preparation of individual reports on these practice activities. Practical sessions in surveying are designed to develop the manual and analytical skills required for map interpretation, simple levelling, compass and tape traverses. The geological field excursion provides the student with specialised instruction on the identification and the engineering significance of geological features.
