Synopsis
Drawing upon an International Relations framework, the course briefly reviews the key aspects regarding the contexts of and evolving perceptions and relationships between Australia and Asia. It then proceeds to an analytical treatment of selected contemporary issues of consequence in a globalization/glocalization environment, including those focused on the global and Asia-Pacific regional economies, securing Australia(ns) in war and peace, and human security and law and order challenges. Particular attention is given to the personal and social skills and knowledge that will facilitate Australia's role in the region.
