BCA4001 Professional Studio Practice

Requisites

Pre-requisite: Students must be enrolled in one of the following Programs: BCAH or MSTA

Students will require access to e-mail and have internet access to UConnect for this course.

Students MUST have completed appropriate a discipline studio specific courses in their chosen creative arts discipline (advice should be sought from BCAH Coordinator or Discipline Head) prior to enrolment in this course.

This course is offered as an option in Semester 2, instead of ENL4001 Cultural Theory and Popular Culture

This course should be completed during the student’s last year in the program.

Synopsis

This course enables students to critically consider the relationship between the quality of their practice-led/studio research and the professional standards set within the creative art industry. Students will need to identify the original contribution of their studio research and how it can engage or be positioned within a professional industry context. Therefore students will consider the nature and impact of their studio research in light of the galley/venue/site and the target audience.

As a learning outcome, students will be asked to demonstrate their ability to contextualise their original studio contribution and work towards being engaged with the creative art industry on a local, national or international level.
