CWR1000 Creative Writing 1
Students will require access to e-mail and have internet access to UConnect for this course.
This course presents an introduction to some of the basic skills involved in imaginative and professional creative writing. Students study the essential components of good writing: clear and vivid sentences, appropriate vocabulary, correct grammar, logical structure and effective 'voice.' There is a focus on the relationship between reading and writing skills, and the identification of writing and self-editing techniques. Exercises will be given to provide guidance in writing and self-editing, and students will be required to submit a selection of these exercises, as well as two creative pieces, and a reflection on the course readings. Forum or tutorial participation is also assessed.
