Synopsis
This course aims to provide students with the opportunity to understand and analyse issues related to sociocultural foundations of sport and physical activity and to become increasingly independent and reflective learners. These issues range from historical, anthropological, social and philosophical aspects of sport and physical activity. It is expected that you will develop skills in a range of understandings and competencies for interpreting and analysing sport and physical activity issues within the wider and complex social environment of Australia and The World. The course adopts the view that sport and other forms of physical activity are microcosms of a larger community and as such reproduce and emphasise the dominant ideologies of that community.
The opportunity for active participation in the course is provided via reflection on personal experiences and acquired knowledge through discussion forums and feedback sessions.
