RequisitesPre-requisite: MID8001 and MID8070 and Students must be enrolled in Program: MMID Other requisitesPre-registration students must be placed with partner hospitals when enrolling in this course SynopsisThe course will develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills for detection and management of women and neonates who experience complications of childbearing including the associated pharmacological management The course introduces common antenatal screening tests and some of the obstetric complications which they are used to detect. Principles of consultation and referral will underpin midwifery clinical decision making. The needs of the neonate experiencing common complications and the impact on infant feeding associated with maternal or neonatal complications are identified. Students will be able to self-appraise their beginning midwifery practice using the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council's National Competency Standards for the Midwife during concurrent professional experience practice in their designated hospital.
