Requisites

Pre-requisite: (NUR2000 and NUR2099) or (NUR2000 and NUR1099 and NUR1140 and NUR1200) Students must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing at USQ.

Synopsis

This course applies the concepts of personal and client vulnerability, safety, fundamentals of nursing care, advocacy and medico-legal aspects from a bio-psycho-social perspective. It promotes a holistic approach to client assessment and management as students extend their prior learning by applying simulated learning situations to their clinical experiences. This will facilitate the development of students' personal and therapeutic communication skills with the aim of producing learners who are able to demonstrate assessment skills, critical thinking, reflection, the ability to prioritise care and the safe transfer of theory from the simulated situations to the real world of practice and to their subsequent courses of study. The clinical practicum experience of this course enables students to apply their learning to the 'real world of nursing practice.'
