Evaluation of the Supporting Rural Women with Breast Cancer project

The Supporting Rural Women with Breast Cancer Project is a Commonwealth initiative that commenced in Toowoomba in January 2005.  The aim of the project was to develop and implement a revised multidisciplinary model of care resulting in the reorganisation and enhanced coordination of breast care services provided by Toowoomba Health Service District.

A central role in the project is that of the specialist breast care nurse in providing supportive care and facilitating the movement towards a multidisciplinary model of care.

Toowoomba Health Services is expected to make decisions on continuation of the project initatives based on the combined results of an evaluation and a separate analysis of clinical indicators associated with project implementation.
