In 2001 the University of Southern Queensland was commissioned by the Queensland Nurses Union (QNU) to survey QNU members so that they could obtain, through an independent agency, data on key issues that concerned their members.

The information from this research has been invaluable to the QNU and significantly informed their ongoing campaigns to improve wages and working conditions of Queensland nurses across all sectors.

A follow up survey was also conducted in 2004.  These surveys are very important in planning the QNU's strategic direction for the next few years.  The survey contains a mix of quantitative and qualitative data and encompasses all aspects of nurses work, time and life.
