StudyDesk

As its name suggests, StudyDesk is where you go to study and is the online environment for your courses of study. On your StudyDesk you can find:

  the course materials,
recorded lectures, and
discussion forums for each of your courses.

Do you have a question about your assignments or course work? Use the discussion forums to ask questions and receive help from your course leader and your peers. Here you will meet other students from all over the world, who are studying the same course. Remember to introduce yourself; you never know who you’ll meet.

To access your USQStudyDesk, log into UConnect using your USQ username and password, then choose USQStudyDesk and choose your relevant course. Help for first time users is available from the USQStudyDesk Support Website, which is available from your USQStudyDesk.

Once you are in USQStudyDesk, you will be taken to your personalised USQStudyDesk home page which displays the list of courses in which you are currently enrolled as well as other useful links and information.

USQStudyDesk essential software

In order to access USQStudyDesk, certain areas require you to have Java enabled. Sun Java is available as a free download from the USQ essential software page.

Academic staff

You can find out who your teachers are for your particular course by looking at your StudyDesk, or in the course specifications. There are generally three types of teachers that you will encounter:

  • Course Leader
  • Lecturer
  • Tutor.

The Course Leader is the person who is responsible for discussion boards and checking that the course is running correctly. You can contact them with any issues regarding course content, deadlines, etc.

The Lecturer is a full time or part-time member of the faculty employed by USQ to lecture on a particular subject or teach a particular course.

The Tutor is a member of the teaching staff who instructs students (in tutorials) and marks assessment pieces.

It is important to note these names because they will be the best people to speak to about your courses.
