2014 Fraser Coast Graduation:

The Fraser Coast Graduation Ceremony follows this order of proceedings:

  1. Street Procession to Brolga Theatre
  2. Graduand Procession
  3. Academic Procession
  4. National Anthem
  5. Official Welcome and Address
  6. Conferring of Honorary Degrees (if any)
  7. Graduation Address by Guest Speaker
  8. Musical Interlude
  9. Presentation of Graduates
  10. Presentation of University of Southern Queensland Medals/Awards (if any)
  11. Valedictorian Address
  12. Closing Address
  13. Departure of Academic Procession
  14. Departure of Graduate Procession.

Arrival

The Fraser Coast graduations take place at the Brolga Theatre in Maryborough. Please arrive one to one and half hours prior to the ceremony at Maryborough Town Hall on Kent Street, Maryborough. Arriving early will ensure enough time for registration and gowning. Once you have your gown on and know your seat allocation, you should remain in close proximity to the Hall ready to process to the Brolga Theatre.

Gowning

Gowning will take place at Maryborough Town Hall on Kent Street, and on arrival you will need to:

  • go to the registration desk where you will be registered and issued with a seating card
  • be ready to proceed along the route to the Brolga Theatre.

Duration

The duration of the graduation ceremony is usually one and half to two hours. On conclusion of the ceremony you and your guests will be invited to join USQ representatives for light refreshments.

Guests

You may bring a maximum of five guests (not including yourself) to the ceremony. Children are welcome, however, every child that occupies a seat will be counted as one guest. You are required to indicate the number of guests you would like to attend on the online Graduate Response Form. If you would like to bring more guests please contact USQ Fraser Coast and we will endeavour to accommodate you.

USQ provides professional photographers for the graduation ceremonies. Students can view their graduation photos after the ceremony at http://www.silverrose.com.au.

Disabled access

The venue has disabled access however, if you have any concerns regarding access please contact us by email or phone +61 7 4631 1647 so that we can accommodate you and your guests on your graduation day. Our graduates are seated in order of being called on our seating list, so if you have any special requirements.

Weather

The average temperatures in May range from a minimum of 20 degrees celsius to a maximum of 28 degrees celsius and can often be windy. If rain is forecast, the procession will travel from Maryborough Town Hall to the Brolga Theatre by bus.
