The Springfield Graduation Ceremony follows this order of proceedings:
Graduation March to Ipswich Civic Centre, from the bottom of the Ipswich City Mall
- Graduand Procession
- Academic Procession
- National Anthem
- Official Welcome and Address
- Conferring of Honorary Degrees (if any)
- Address by Chancellor
- Graduation Address by Guest Speaker
- Musical Interlude
- Presentation of Graduates
- Presentation of University of Southern Queensland Medals/Awards (if any)
- Valedictorian Address
- Closing Address
- Departure of Academic Procession
- Departure of Graduate Procession
The USQ Springfield graduation takes place at the Ipswich Civic Centre, cnr Limestone & Nicholas Streets, Ipswich. Please arrive one to one and half hours prior to the ceremony as this will ensure you have enough time to park, register and receive your gown.
Gowning will take place in the Cunningham Room of the Ipswich Civic Centre and on arrival you will need to:
- complete a Photographic Release Form
- go to the registration desk where you will be registered and issued with a gown and seating card. Please note, you will not be given your gown until you have completed the Photographic Release Form.
- make your way to the bottom of the Ipswich City Mall, meeting outside of Woolworths, to be ready to take part in the Graduation March through Ipswich.
Once you have your gown and seat allocation, you should make your way to the bottom of the Ipswich City Mall, meeting outside of Woolworths no later than 1:50pm for the graduation march. The graduation march is a special event, signifying the association between the University and the City. Everyone is strongly encouraged to participate, and although it is no more than 300 metres, it is advised that appropriate footwear is worn for this activity.
Please note that your guests will be seated in the auditorium during the march but will be able to see the event on the stage screen.
The duration of the graduation ceremony is usually one and half to two hours. On conclusion of the ceremony you and your guests will be invited by USQ representatives for afternoon tea.
You are required to indicate the number of guests you would like to attend on the online Graduate Response Form. You may bring a maximum of four guests (including yourself) to the ceremony. Children are welcome, however, every child that occupies a seat will be counted as one guest. If you would like to bring more guests please contact Samantha Miles and we will endeavour to accommodate you.

The venue has disabled access however, if you have any concerns regarding access please contact us by email or phone +61 7 3470 4258 so that we can accommodate you and your guests on your graduation day. Our graduates are seated in order of being called on our seating list, so if you have any special requirements please let us know.
The average temperatures in May range from a minimum of 20 degrees celsius to a maximum of 28 degrees celsius. If rain is forecast, the graduation march will be cancelled.
