2015 Springfield Graduation:

The Springfield Graduation Ceremony follows this order of proceedings:

  1. Academic Procession
  2. National Anthem
  3. Official Welcome and Address
  4. Conferring of Honorary Degrees (if any)
  5. Address by Chancellor
  6. Graduation Address by Guest Speaker
  7. Musical Interlude
  8. Presentation of Graduates
  9. Presentation of University of Southern Queensland Medals/Awards (if any)
  10. Valedictorian Address
  11. Closing Address
  12. Departure of Academic Procession
  13. Departure of Graduate Procession


The USQ Springfield graduation takes place at the Ipswich Civic Centre, cnr Limestone & Nicholas Streets, Ipswich. Please arrive one to one and half hours prior to the ceremony as this will ensure you have enough time to park, register and receive your gown.


On graduation day, collect your academic dress from the Cunningham Room of the Ipswich Civic Centre and on arrival you will need to:

  • complete a Photographic Release Form
  • go to the registration desk where you will be registered and issued with a gown and seating card

Once you have collected your gown and know your seating allocation, move to the theatre where you must be seated at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the official ceremony.


The duration of the graduation ceremony is usually one and half to two hours. On conclusion of the ceremony you and your guests will be invited by USQ representatives for afternoon tea.


You are required to indicate the number of guests you would like to attend on the online Graduate Response Form. You may bring a maximum of four guests (including yourself) to the ceremony. Children are welcome, however, every child that occupies a seat will be counted as one guest. If you would like to bring more guests please contact the Graduations Office after registration closes and we will endeavour to accommodate you.

Disabled access

The venue has disabled access however, if you have any concerns regarding access please contact us by email or phone +61 7 4631 1741 so that we can accommodate you and your guests on your graduation day. Our graduates are seated in order of being called on our seating list, so if you have any special requirements please let us know.


The average temperatures in May range from a minimum of 20 degrees celsius to a maximum of 28 degrees celsius.
