2015 Toowoomba Graduation:

The Toowoomba Graduation Ceremonies follow this order of proceedings:

  1. Academic Procession
  2. National Anthem
  3. Official Welcome and Address
  4. Conferring of Honorary Degrees (if any)
  5. Graduation Address by Guest Speaker
  6. Musical Interlude
  7. Presentation of Graduates
  8. Presentation of University of Southern Queensland Medals / Awards (if any)
  9. Valedictorian Address
  10. Closing Address
  11. Departure of Academic Procession
  12. Departure of Graduate Procession.

Arrival

Please arrive at the Allison Dickson Lecture Theatre at USQ (April ceremony) or Empire Theatre (September ceremony) one to one and half hours prior to the ceremony. Arriving early will ensure you have enough time for registration, gowning and seating allocation prior to the ceremony.

Gowning

Procedures for collecting your academic dress will change according to your graduation location:

  • Allison Dickson Lecture Theatre (April Ceremony)

On graduation day, collect your academic dress from the Allison Dickson Lecture Theatre. On arrival at the theatre you will need to register with your faculty where you will be issued with a seating card for the ceremony. Once you have collected your gown and know your seating allocation, move to the Clive Berghofer Recreation Centre where must be seated at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the official ceremony.

  • Empire Theatre (September Ceremony)

Gowning takes place at the rear of the Empire Theatre. On entering the Theatre, follow the signs down the left hand side to the rear of the stage. At the time of registration, your faculty will issue you with a seating card. You will be required to take your seat at the Empire Theatre at least 30 minutes prior to the commencement time of the ceremony.

Duration

The duration of the graduation ceremonies is usually one and a half to two hours. On conclusion of the ceremony you and your guests will be invited to join USQ representatives for light refreshments.

Guests

You are required to indicate the number of guests you would like to attend on the online Graduate Response Form. You may bring a maximum of five guests (not including yourself) to the ceremony. Children are welcome, however, every child that occupies a seat will be counted as one guest. If you would like to bring more guests please contact graduations@usq.edu.au once registration closes (21 days prior) and we will endeavour to accommodate you.

Please remember that tickets are not issued for the ceremony, and there is no reserved seating allocated. Guests can select from the seats available on the day.

Disabled access

Both venues have disabled access however if you have any concerns regarding access please contact us via email or phone  +61 7 4631 1647, so that we can accommodate you and your guests on your graduation day. Our graduates are seated in order of being called on our seating list, so if you have any special requirements, please let us know.

Weather

The average temperatures in May and September range from a minimum of 3 degrees to a maximum of 25 degrees and can often be windy. Please bring an umbrella if rain is forecast.
