Career Planning resources

The following resources are available to help you plan your career direction.

Websites

  • My Future - A government sponsored website designed by counselling professionals providing career facts and career exploration tools. The website has a wealth of information about different industries, occupations, study programs, education providers, and much more, under The Facts section. It also has a range of activities designed to guide and help you to develop a career plan under the My Guide section and another section that includes a range of information and resources that would help you to Assist Others with their career development. 
  • Graduate Careers Australia - allows students and graduates to gain information about career planning, preparing for job applications as well as providing employment opportunities.  Graduate Careers is associated with the Graduate Careers Council of Australia and is supported by career counsellors at Australian universities. 
  • Financial Services Institute of Australia - has developed a career portal to provide useful information and resources for those beginning, or considering, a career in financial services. 
  • Job Outlook - is a government website that providing information on employment statistics for a wide range of occupations. 
  • Unigrad - A website designed for university students to access information on job opportunities, job hunting tips and professional organisations contacts. 
  • Career FAQs website - A 'one-stop career shop' website providing general and industry-specific information career news, interviews, advice and more for students and job seekers.

  • Understanding Yourself - The Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) have created a worksheet (PDF* 136KB) to help you perform a job search self-assessment.
  • Leaps and Bounds - A guide(PDF* 392KB) developed by the South Queensland Regional Disability Liaison Officer for those with additional needs who are considering vocational education and training or higher education.
  • Making Career Choices - The Careers & Employment team have developed a workbook (PDF* 1.3MB) that takes you through a range of activities to enhance your understanding of yourself and your career options. The workbook draws heavily from the Myfuture website, which is Australia’s national online career information service.
