Career Counselling

At USQ, we offer free career counselling and have professional career counsellors at all three campuses that can help you:

  • make sound career decisions and set directions
  • choose and change degree programs and majors
  • discover resources to support career decisions and actions, and
  • plan for employment after graduation.

Career counselling involves confidential sessions with an appropriately trained Career Development Practitioner, who will discuss your career, life plans, and personal influences that will affect your career. Career counselling usually involves setting goals and learning tasks to enable good career decisions.

Regardless of what stage you are at with your study program, there are some actions you can take to maximise your career opportunities and make the most of your studies at USQ. Download our Career Check-up that outlines some recommended career actions for you to undertake throughout your undergraduate or postgraduate studies.

Make an appointment

To see one of our career counsellors, you will be required to attend a drop-in session (either in person or by phone). In the drop-in session, you will be able to present your concerns and the counsellor will develop an action plan with you. Sometimes the action plan will not include a full appointment or session with the counsellor; it may involve providing you with resources so that will enable you to answer your questions. If you are offered an appointment, the career counsellor will request reception to arrange a suitable time for you.
