Privacy and disclosure

The decision on whether to disclose or not will be a personal decision - you are the only one who can make it. The following resources are listed to assist with your decision:

'Choosing Your Path. Disclosure: It's A Personal Decision' has been developed for students and employees with disabilities and also for employers, educators and support services. This provides information about:

  • options and pathways a person with a disability has when deciding to disclose their disability
  • the benefits and disadvantages of disclosing as well as some key considerations to achieving effective disclosure
  • rights, roles and responsibilities of employers, educators and support services when a person discloses a disability in post secondary education and employment.

To Tell or Not to Tell is intended to help students with disabilities (and others who interact with them) make informed decisions about whether or not to disclose a disability or medical condition in the education setting.
