Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business

Your path to success in sustainable business

This double-degree can be customised to your needs based on which career path you want to pursue, and is vocationally oriented to highlight the sustainable management and resolution of business problems in both private and public sectors.

Through the Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business you will gain the skills to manage the technical aspects of the economic, social and environmental impacts of business activities (the Triple Bottom Line), as well as a knowledge-base in financial and management accounting.

Combining these skills with a Commerce major, including Business Law, Corporate Social Responsibility, Finance, General Commerce, Information Technology Management or Sustainable Economics and Policy, will provide you with the necessary broad-based administrative and management skills required by organisations to compete in the global economic environment.

From financial accounting to carbon tax/emissions trading systems; your study will be broad and diverse, yet tailored to the challenges facing the modern corporate environment.

When graduating with a double degree, you will receive a separate testamur (official certificate) for each degree and will be able to complete the double degree in less time than if you chose to study the two degrees separately.

Career opportunities

You will have the power to strategically manage and report the environmental and social impacts of major companies and make a difference in the world. Change the world as a carbon accountant, public accountant, chartered accountant, investment advisor or forensic accountant and work anywhere in the world, from major companies to small private businesses, in banks and corporate government positions.

Professional accreditation

Accounting major graduates will meet the educational entrance requirements of CPA Australia and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA). This provides Associate membership of CPA Australia, eligibility to study the CPA Australia professional exams and eligibility to study the ICAA professional exams.

Students who complete the Finance minor in the Bachelor of Commerce will meet the educational entrance requirements of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia). Finance major graduates will meet the educational entrance requirements to become an Associate member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia).

The Information Technology Management major within the Bachelor of Commerce is accredited at professional level by the Australian Computer Society and, through the Seoul Accord, is recognised in other countries.
