Bachelor of Creative Arts (Theatre)

Turn your dream into a reality. Our Bachelor of Creative Arts (Theatre) will teach you to master your choice of theatre performance, theory, or stage management at Australia’s second oldest actor-training institution.

This degree provides an equal mix of studio practice and theory led learning, and allows you to explore areas such as children and young people’s theatre, community theatre and video production. You will master textual analysis, scene rehearsal, vocal/body instrument training, improvisation, original work generation and public performance. After the first year, you can also choose to audition and interview to pursue specialised training in the Acting Studio or the Stage Management and Technical Production Studio.

Our Theatre staff have expertise in a range of specialty areas, and encourage and assist you to develop your own individual career plan and pathway. In your final year you will be mentored through the development of your own project and will have the opportunity to showcase it with the support of USQ Artsworx. There are also many opportunities to demonstrate your skills in TV scenes, show-reels, the Children’s Festival and the magical Shakespeare in the Park Festival.

A dazzling career

This degree will give you practical training in the techniques and skills you will need to work as an autonomous actor across digital mediums and live performance genres. Graduates of this degree can enjoy a rewarding career as an actor, collaborative artist, events manager, play and screenwriter, arts administrator, community arts officer, youth arts officer, researcher, actor, marketing officer, secondary school teacher.
