Bachelor of Education (Primary)
Prep to Year 7
Focusing on the Primary years (from Prep to Year 7), this degree offers you the opportunity to gain the unique knowledge and expertise needed to educate young learners.
Not sure if you want to study online or on campus? Flexible study options enable you to choose how and when you study, depending on your needs, online, on-campus or a combination of both.
You can choose to complete your professional experience at any Australian school and have the opportunity to experience working as an educator in a variety of locations including rural placements and with students who study via the School of Distance Education. Completing one of your professional experiences overseas in Thailand, USA or Denmark is also an option. These experiences will help to make you a well rounded and highly employable graduate.
Honours degree
If you are interested in research in education, you will have the opportunity to apply for a transfer to the Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Primary) degree after completing a minimum of 1.5 years study in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) degree and achieving a minimum GPA of 6.00.
Career opportunities
Graduates of the Bachelor Education (Primary) will have the skills and knowledge required to teach students in Years Prep to 7. You may also choose to follow the Middle years pathway to have the option to transition to teaching older years, as Queensland moves Year 7 into High School in 2015. Teaching offers a lot of flexibility and diversity, with graduates also working as English language teachers and in community settings
Queensland College of Teachers Registration
Graduates of the Bachelor of Education are eligible to apply for registration as a teacher through the Queensland College of Teachers. To be eligible for registration in Queensland, both domestic and international students must have completed the minimum 40 days of supervised practical experience in Australian Schools. Live interstate or overseas? You will need to investigate registration eligibility on an individual basis.
