Why Electrical?

Study the areas of analogue and digital computer engineering, work with rotating machines and drives and apply your knowledge through practical work experience and an exciting final year research project that will give you hands-on industry experience. Previous students have produced projects in the fields of properties of a nickel laminated magnetostrictive ultrasonic transducer, water electrolysis, biometric analysis and grid-connected solar photovoltaic systems.

With your applied experience, you have the opportunity to become an Electrical or Electronics Engineer or Telecommunications Engineer and work with some of Australia’s biggest companies including Energex, Ergon Energy and Origin or in the rapidly developing industries of mining and coal seam gas production. 

Professional accreditation

When you graduate with your Bachelor of Engineering, you will be eligible to apply for membership with Engineers Australia as a graduate Professional Engineer. With the experience you will gain from working in the field, you may apply for chartered status as a Professional Engineer. You will also have the opportunity to work overseas, with your accreditation recognised in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, Ireland, Hong Kong, New Zealand and South Africa.
