Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)

Change the course of your life with USQ’s Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical). With the opportunity to study via distance education or on campus, you will have the flexibility to adapt your study to your life.

Why Mechanical?

You’ll learn the fundamental skills of design, innovation and systems improvement, and gain experience working with USQ’s Heat Engines and High Speed Gas Dynamics laboratories. In your first year, you’ll explore all areas of the engineering field to allow you to take charge of your own career. After you graduate, your professional skills will allow you to work with some of Australia’s biggest corporations as a Professional Engineer in the automotive, aeronautical, industrial, domestic, or transportation industries in modern mechanical technology, systems or specialist sales.

Apply your knowledge through practical work experience and an exciting final year research project. Previous students have produced projects in the fields of the redesign of an FSAE race car, the use of the vibration signature in structural health monitoring, Microalgae as alternative fuel for Compression Ignition Engines and modification of agricultural equipment and obstacle detecting robotics.

Professional accreditation

When you graduate with your Bachelor of Engineering, you will be eligible to apply for membership with Engineers Australia as a graduate Professional Engineer. With the experience you will gain from working in the field, you may apply for chartered status as a Professional Engineer. You will also have the opportunity to work overseas, with your accreditation recognised in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, Ireland, Hong Kong, New Zealand and South Africa.
