USQ’s Graduate Diploma of Engineering Science (Environmental Engineering) is ideal if you have a three year engineering degree and you want to extend your knowledge and practical experience in environmental engineering at a postgraduate level.
Through this eight unit degree, you will do a combination of advanced study and practice of environmental engineering, empowering you to apply engineering solutions to environmental problems. This major is unique because it focuses on the sustainable management of Australia’s vital soil and water resources.
Further study
When you complete your Graduate Diploma of Engineering Science you could take the credit from your studies and go on to complete the Master of Engineering Science where you will have the opportunity to do a research project and dissertation to apply your formal knowledge to a real world issue.
Career opportunities
Environmental engineering at USQ provides students with the knowledge and skills to be an 'environmental problem-solver'. You would work in water and wastewater treatment, river hydrology, soil conservation, irrigation, salinisation, drainage, mine site rehabilitation, environmental studies, water resources engineering, soil science, engineering problem solving and management.
Professional accreditation
The Graduate Diploma of Engineering Science is not accredited by any professional bodies other than the University of Southern Queensland. It does however provide a pathway to the Master of Engineering Science which is provisionally accredited with Engineers Australia for membership as a graduate Professional Engineer.
