Become a teacher in one year
You can work with young people and make a difference. The Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching (Middle Years) enables those with a Bachelor degree in a field other than education to become a teacher in one short year. There is an option to complete the degree part-time over 18 months or two years, depending on your other responsibilities, helping you to maintain that all important life/study balance. This flexible program is available on-campus or online, and we also accept mid-year entry*.
Middle School Years
Middle school years (Yrs 5 to 9) is a time when students undergo significant physical, emotional and mental changes. It is an exciting time to support them as they move through these important developmental years.
At the end of the degree you will have the training you need to work as a Middle school teacher in state, Catholic or private schools. Looking for an alternative path? Teaching-related skills of communication and educational management are also in demand in careers such as sport and leisure centre management, personal training, life coaching and human services.
Queensland College of Teachers Registration
Graduates of the Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching are eligible to apply to the Queensland College of Teachers for teacher registration. But it’s worth noting that all students (domestic and international) must complete a minimum of 30 days of their supervised practical experience in Australian schools.
