Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching (Primary)

Become a teacher in one year

You can work with young people and make a difference. The Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching (Primary) enables those with a Bachelor degree in a field other than education to become a primary teacher in one short year. There is an option to complete the degree part-time over 18 months or two years, depending on your other responsibilities. This flexible degree is available on-campus or online, helping you to maintain that all important life/study balance.

Primary School Teacher

Do you have a passion for engaging with our youngest learners? The Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching will give you the skills and qualification to become a primary school teacher and make a difference in children’s lives as they learn and grow. The school years from Prep to Year 7 lay the groundwork for learning for a child’s entire life.

At the end of the degree you will have the training you need to work as a Primary (Prep – Year 7) teacher in state, Catholic or private schools. Looking for an alternative path? Teaching-related skills of communication and educational management are also in demand in careers such as sport and leisure centre management, personal training, life coaching and human services.

Queensland College of Teachers Registration

Graduates of the Graduate Diploma are eligible to apply to the Queensland College of Teachers for teacher registration. But it’s worth noting that all students (domestic and international), must complete a minimum of 30 days of their supervised practical experience in Australian schools.

Are you an international or off-shore Australian student looking to work outside Australia? Perhaps you should consider the Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Primary).
