I jumped at the chance to work at USQ so that I could share my passion for and belief in my specialist area with undergraduate teachers. The smaller size of the university - and the more personal approach that’s possible because of this - really appealed to me. The challenge of using technology to deliver teacher training also grabbed my attention.
For me, the opportunity to be involved in the development and delivery of a new undergraduate program for Sport, Health and Physical Education specialists was almost too good to be true; starting with a clean slate to develop a program that works for 21st century students and the learners they’ll engage with.
I believe all children need the opportunity to develop the physical and health literacies to enable positive and informed decision making for the health and wellbeing of themselves and others in their communities. The irrefutable evidence linking academic success with being active and enjoying good health cannot be ignored.
