Professor Nita Temmerman Dean, Faculty of Education
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Faculty of Education at the University of Southern Queensland.
A set of distinctive principles underpins our program structures and content. They are premised on the goal of preparing global educators for contemporary learning communities. This makes explicit our agenda of preparing you for a variety of learning communities including early learning centres, disability services, adult and technical training as well as schools; and ensuring this preparation had global relevance so that you – our graduates, are able to ‘hit the ground running’ wherever you may be employed and located.
The programs provide flexible learning options, online or on-campus or a combination of both, across the broad specialisations of Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary, Special Education, Sport, Health and Physical Education, and Vocational Education. A pathway is also available for those wishing to specialise in the teaching area of Middle Years.
Students rate the teaching-learning experience along with the level of support provided by Faculty academic and professional support staff as exceptional. Our staff are committed to the pursuit of high standards and continuous quality improvement in the planning, delivery and evaluation of programs. Above all else, they enjoy working as part of a dynamic and important profession.
The Faculty continues to be engaged in various highly regarded research and consultancy activities and prides itself on the valuable partnerships with the profession.
I take this opportunity to welcome you to a wonderfully rewarding profession and wish you every success in your studies.
