Blue Card (Working with children suitability card)For all preservice teachers (that is, USQ students) working with children/students under the age of 18 in Queensland, it is a requirement to obtain a Blue Card. SONIASONIA is a web-based program that manages the placement process for students, liaison and faculty staff. On the SONIA site, students can nominate preferred schools or centres from a list of offerings for a specific course and check for confirmed placements and site details. CalendarThe professional experience calendar for 2009 is available for each sector. Please take note of the dates for your courses and ensure you leave the period clear for scheduled professional experience. All students are required to complete the experience for which they are enrolled at the scheduled time. LiaisonOur liaison officers act as the contact point between preservice educators, their mentors, coordinators, the course examiner and the Faculty's professional experience coordinator. Mentors and coordinatorsSchools, centres and college coordinators provide educational and administrative support. Mentors are supervising teachers who work to enhance and develop professional understanding and competence in the preservice educator. Course examinersCourse examiners play an important role in making connections between professional experiences and theoretical components. More information is available about the role of course examiners in relation to professional experience. PE in rural or remote areasSupport and funding is available if you wish to undertake your professional experience in a rural or remote area.
