Resources
Approval of content courses studied to support nominated Secondary or Senior/Middle teaching areas is required prior to any teaching activity and must be approved by the coordinator of the program in which the preservice educator is enrolled. Please complete and submit the Senior Teaching Area Form (PDF 32KB) if applicable to Professional Experience Support.

General Information for all students

Confirmation of placements for preservice educators will be through the
SONIA system

Only preservice educators who are enrolled in the correct course and have the relevant legal checks can be placed for professional experience.
1. Preservice educators requiring placements within 80 km of a campus
2. Preservice educators requiring placements further than 80 km of a campus

All placements will be organised by the preservice educator through the professional experience support office

No preservice educator is to approach a site to request a placement until they have been provided with relevant information about the professional experience requirements.

All students must confirm their placements through SONIA. It is your responsibility to check your own details.
Non-supervised professional experiences
In addition to supervised experience, 20 non-supervised days of Professional Context Experience (PCE) are also undertaken. Non-supervised experience offers preservice educators the opportunity to participate in, and contribute to, education and care programs in a variety of settings, to participate in professional development activities and to successfully work as part of the professional team.
