CBRNetwork

The CBRNetwork brings together expertise and experience from a range of areas and sectors within the field of education. The focus on capacity-building for emerging global, national and regional/community futures encompasses sustainable and innovative practices, learning and development, lifelong learning and the development of self-determined communities.

These capacity-building processes are multidisciplinary and may be realised at community, industry, organisation, team or individual levels. The CBRNetwork is currently working with a number of community development organisations throughout regional and rural areas of Australia to develop projects aimed at enhancing their community and organisational capacity-building initiatives.

Established as a research team in 2009, the CBRNetwork has since gained Faculty Research Centre status and grown to include seven full members , one adjunct and eight associate members, all contributing a broad range of experiences across various sectors of the discipline of Education.

In 2010, the CNRNetwork launched its first edited book, Sustaining synergies: Collaborative research and researching collaboration. It has since published several more books on capacity-building principles and practices, and an impressive list of research outputs.

The on-going goals of the CBRNetwork are to:

  • establish strategic research and development partnerships with industry, government and community organisations to support development and capacity-building in rural communities in the south-east/south-west Queensland regions
  • explore opportunities for development of research and publishing networks and collaborations with like-minded researchers and research organisations at regional, State, national and international levels
  • contribute to research projects exploring internationalisation in higher education, teacher education, distance and community education
  • continue the team's collaborative writing projects and extend conceptual work on collaborative research
  • foster the development of team members' individual and collaborative research and writing capabilities, and
  • support the development of community-based researchers.
