Becoming an educator
If you are passionate about teaching, then study education at USQ. We aim to graduate students who demonstrate high levels of qualities, skills, practices and values that will enhance their abilities as global educators.
What program to enrol in?

If you haven't studied at university before
You will need to complete a four-year Bachelor of Education degree in order to be eligible for teacher registration. You can choose one of five teaching areas:
We offer a one-year Graduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching program.
You can complete a Bachelor of Education (Technical and Vocational Education) via external study.
School-based experience
There are compulsory school-based (professional experience) components in all our preservice teacher programs.These experiences provide you with a practical opportunity to put theory into practice. These experiences are linked to courses throughout the program. You can apply to complete a professional experience placement in a rural/remote Australian location or overseas.
Working with children suitability check (blue card)
All adults working with children under the age of 18 in the State of Queensland must possess a current blue card before starting any of the practical components of this program.
Teacher registration
As a graduate, you will be eligible to apply for registration as a qualified teacher with the Queensland College of Teachers or other state and international educational authorities.
The Beyond Education project assists students to make a smooth transition from university to employment.
Embedded within our Bachelor of Education program are three-year specialist programs for students interested in working in the early childhood or adult education and workplace learning sectors, who do not require teacher registration.
