The Master of Learning and Development is designed for those wishing to develop their professional orientation due to emerging educator roles, brought about by workplace changes, and is ideally suited for those from non-traditional settings who do not require teacher registration.
Up to 50% of courses may be drawn from any faculty, including the Faculty of Education.
Career opportunities
Our postgraduate programs are designed to keep pace with the rapidly changing education environment and the educator's expanding role by offering maximum choice and flexibility. This flexibility encourages students to focus on specific areas based on their personal and professional needs, industry requirements and future aspirations, which will enhance career development and inspire lifelong learning. The opportunity to explore and critically evaluate widely accepted practices and emerging trends is an essential feature of the continuing development of contemporary educators.
Accreditation
The Graduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching program enables graduates to apply for teacher registration as it is accredited by the Queensland College of Teachers, the major professional body in Queensland, and is also recognised by similar bodies in other states of Australia.
NOTE: Postgraduate certificates and Masters programs do not in themselves qualify graduates for teacher registration.
Research
Students will be supported by staff who are recognised nationally and internationally in their research endeavours. All our masters programs offer introductory research opportunities that may lead to Doctoral studies.
Pathways
Postgraduate certificates provide a taste of postgraduate study at USQ, and (provided students meet relevant entry requirements) can articulate into various Masters programs. All our postgraduate certificates contribute towards half of the relevant Masters program.
By commencing your study with a postgraduate certificate, you can study a complementing specialisation in the Masters program, for example Curriculum and Pedagogy for the postgraduate certificate and Leadership and Management for the Masters.
