About Secondary Schooling

The Secondary specialisation prepares you to work in schools encompassing years 8-12.  A wide range of Secondary discipline studies (PDF740KB) are offered to help you develop specialised teaching areas.
You will choose two main teaching areas*, some courses for which are taught outside the Faculty.

*NOTE: not all teaching areas are available at all USQ campuses. Some teaching areas have additional prerequisites such as an audition.

Professional Accreditation

The Bachelor of Education and Graduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching programs are recognised by the Queensland College of Teachers, the major professional body in Queensland. These programs also qualify you to register with similar bodies in other states.

Please note: The Queensland College of Teachers is required to conduct national criminal history checks on all new applicants for teacher registration in Queensland. A 'Working with Children' check will also be carried out prior to commencement of any professional experience.

Postgraduate certificates and Masters programs do not qualify graduates for teacher registration.
