Our partnerships

Industry partnerships

Existing partnerships developed to address the skills shortages in various engineering and spatial science industries include:

  • The Ergon Energy Trainee program, in which Ergon Energy staff are enrolled through USQ, was successful in winning a Training Initiative Award.
  • An agreement with the Department of Main Roads Queensland has resulted in the establishment of the road Design Training Centre through which Main Roads staff are trained in a collaborative venture with USQ.
  • Another initiative in the road engineering area has been established with the training of cadets for the Road Transport Authority NSW.
  • Government departments and semi-government authorities advertise cadetships, conditional on successful candidates enrolling in programs offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Surveying by distance education.
  • Local government scholarship and cadet training relationships have been established with the Toowoomba Regional Council and Moree Plains Shire Council.

Educational programs

We have developed a number of partnership agreements with a wide range of international and local educational providers. These partnerships include articulation pathways which are available for many private and public VET sector providers including:

  • TAFE Queensland including Southbank Institute of Technology, SkillsTech Australia, Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE, Bremer TAFE
  • Aviation Australia
  • Hunter Institute of TAFE

Agreements to provide educational courses and programs in collaboration with the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, University of the Sunshine Coast and University of New England have also been established.

Professional recognition

Our engineering and surveying programs are accredited or recognised by the relevant professional bodies to ensure our graduates are job ready upon the completion of their studies.

All undergraduate engineering programs and the Master of Engineering Science and Master of Engineering Practice programs are accredited by Engineers Australia. Programs accredited by Engineers Australia are widely recognised by international professional engineering bodies including those in the United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Ireland, Hong Kong, New Zealand and South Africa.

Our undergraduate surveying programs are fully accredited by the Surveyors Board of Queensland and is recognised in every Australian state and in New Zealand through reciprocal arrangements.  They are also recognised by the Surveying and Spatial Science Institute of Australia.
