Dr Alexander Kist

Seeing that telecommunication has shaped our society like no other discipline in the last two decades – it is difficult to imagine a world without smart phones and the Internet - this has been a very exiting area to work in.

I am an electrical engineer specialising in telecommunications, computer networking and engineering education. I am undertaking research in energy efficient computer networks, Quality of Experience and technology for learning. I am a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Institution of Engineers, Australia (IEAust), the Telecommunication Society of Australia (TSA), the Australasian Association for Engineering Education and American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

One of the common traits of engineers is an interest in how to make “things” work to solve problems, from roads in civil engineering to smart phones in computer systems engineering. Using my expertise in telecommunication and in engineering education, I am always looking for new ways to improve our learning environments to give our external and on-campus students the best possible opportunities to learn.
