Draft dissertation
The dissertation is a communication benchmark course - assessment is based on both the communication structure and technical content. Students not seeking feedback from a draft dissertation often receive lower results or are unsuccessful in the Project courses.
The writing of a satisfactory dissertation is a major task and an important learning experience. It is almost certain that you will not have written a document of this magnitude before and it is unlikely that you will write a satisfactory dissertation without the advice and guidance of your supervisor. Hence, the supervisor should see and be able to provide feedback on a substantial portion in final-draft form (refer to section 7.5 of Project Reference Book).
Allow your supervisor reasonable time to provide the level of detailed comment you will required. If at all practical, it is wise to submit your draft dissertation ahead of this deadline so that you have received feedback in good time.
It is not essential that your supervisor see every part of the final document in draft. A supervisor's guidance on major chapters or chapters 1, 2 and 3 will enable feedback on structure, writing and content.
