Assignments
Policy and procedures for assignment submission for courses delivered on-campus.
This Faculty of Engineering and Surveying Policy Statement is to be read in conjunction with Section 3.3 of the Assessment Policy.
Normally assignments for on-campus courses are to be submitted by 4.00pm on the due date to the Assignment Collection Box, Enquiries Counter, 4th Floor of Z Block.
Students enrolled in on-campus and external courses must submit their assignments with a signed USQ Assignment Cover Sheet. The Assignment Cover Sheet can be downloaded using the path UConnect > ULearn tab > Assignment Coversheets button
An assignment received without the appropriate cover, shall be deemed 'not received' and returned to the student's mailing address as registered on the student system. The 'late penalty' shall apply until the student re-submits the assignment in the appropriate form.
Students must keep a copy of their assignments. If requested, students will be required to provide a copy of assignments submitted for assessment purposes.
The Faculty will normally only accept assessments that have been written, typed or printed on paper-based media and will NOT accept submission of assignments by facsimile.
The examiner of a course is required to make available to students their results in each summative assessment within a reasonable period of time after the assessment. This period of time shall not normally exceed three weeks. Marked assignments shall normally be returned within three (3) weeks of being sent to the marker.
In the first instance assignments marked prior to the end of semester will normally be distributed in class. Assignments can be collected from the Enquiries Counter, 4th Floor of Z Block on Tuesdays between 10.00am and 12.00pm and Thursdays between 2.00pm and 5.00pm.
Unless otherwise indicated on the approved course specification, work submitted after the specified due date without extenuating circumstances will normally attract a penalty of 20% of the assigned mark for each working day late. Students unable to submit assignments by the due date because of extenuating circumstances which are beyond their control can apply to the examiner for an extension. Validated documentary evidence must be submitted with the assignment explaining the circumstances. Students who do not have regular access to postal services or who are otherwise disadvantaged by these regulations may be given special consideration. They should contact the examiner of the course to negotiate such special arrangements.
