The Faculty of Business and Law celebrates the success of all its Alumni and is keen to stay in touch with news and events of the Faculty throughout the next stage of your lives. 2012 sees the Faculty focusing on updating and refining our program offerings with a view to ensuring we are as relevant and effective as possible in preparing our graduates for the challenges of a global workplace. This year we are also proud to celebrate the success of our first cohort of Law graduates and to being a part of their exciting future. We also look forward to re-connecting with those who are thinking about additional study and to working with our Alumni to solve any professional education challenges their organisations may face.

UCU appoints Joe Roff as CEO

USQ Programs accredited by the Australian Computer Society


Joe Roff

The University of Canberra Union (UCU) has appointed former Wallabies and Brumbies player Joe Roff as its Chief Executive Officer.

The position has been created as a result of UCU's new strategic plan and direction, to invest in campus life at the University of Canberra.

USQ Programs accredited by ACS

USQ has recently had a number of programs granted full accreditation status by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). This includes programs such as the Bachelor of Business with a major in Information Technology Management and the Master of Information Systems.

Faculty of Business and Law celebrates the success of Phd students


MBA information evening

All Alumni are invited to hear Associate Professor Peter Murray talk about the revised MBA and opportunities for recognition of prior studies, and accelerated pathways into the USQ MBA. Our MBA has undergone a wide-reaching transformation during 2010/2011 leading to a top 20 ranking by BOSS magazine in September last year. The information evening will be held in Brisbane on Tuesday 24 July at Vincent's Chartered Accountants, 34/32 Turbot Street, 5:30pm for a 5:45pm start.

Professor Allan Layton with the successful PhD students

Recently the Faculty of Business and Law and the Australian Centre for Sustainable Business and Development held a PhD Presentations Expo at the Toowoomba Campus. The Expo showcased the PhD research projects of 14 students, giving each student the chance to 'sell' their project during a 15 minute presentation.

The Expo provided a wonderful opportunity to showcase the outstanding research that some of USQ's PhD students were undertaking.

USQ offers tuition for CPA program

Important dates

The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is now an accredited Tuition Provider for CPA Australia's CPA Program. The CPA Program consists of six professional-level courses that allow accounting graduates to become a CPA (Certified Practising Accountant).

There are four core segments and two elective segments. USQ will provide online global support for the four core segments.

USQ joins forces with AHRI

Current Programs


Australian Human Resources Institute

The Faculty of Business & Law has joined forces with the Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI) granting academic credit for AHRIs Professional Diploma in HR. Members of AHRI who have completed the Professional Diploma will be granted credit for MGT5000 and three courses from the Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) specialisation in the MBA.

In return, AHRI has accredited the USQ MBA (the only single MBA accredited with AHRI) following a detailed application process. MBA students who graduate with an MBA and the SHRM specialisation will be entitled to use the letters 'MBA MAHRI' after their name.

There is no better time for Alumni professionals to gain entry into the MBA (SHRM) program.

Engaging in postgraduate studies with the Faculty as either coursework or higher degree research is an excellent way to further develop your professional skills and disciplinary expertise. The Faculty of Business and Law postgraduate programs are widely recognised in the global market place, and students from over 30 countries are studying with us.
